“A HIDDEN GEM”. This is what the people who know The Prince of Wales commonly call it. Tucked away down the back streets of Belle Vue, a short walk from Shrewsbury’s town centre, The Prince is a traditional ‘family and friends’ run business at the heart of a community.
Since taking over in July 2003, landlady Victoria Price has made a real turn around restoring the pub to its former glory, always working with a strong ethos of a warm welcome to everyone creating a friendly and relaxing atmosphere for all to enjoy. A true Great British pub.
One of the best attractions of The Prince is most important… the beer! There is always a wide selection of real ales available and we host two heavily supported beer festivals a year. We’ve featured in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide for several years and received numerous awards from CAMRA for the quality of our ales, service and pub. The quality doesn’t stop at the beer. Attention to detail is important at The Prince; supporting other independent businesses by using local quality produce, service to be proud of, but still offering great value for money.
The pub have always supported local team Shrewsbury Town FC. Shrewsbury Town's old ground, the Gay Meadow, was only a 10 minute walk from the Prince so it was an ideal place for a pre-match pint and although the current ground is located much further you can still enjoy a decent pint without worrying about how you're going to get to the game. Since the move they've run a coach service to every home fixture so you can enjoy a pre and post-match pint with your fellow town fans.
They also provide away days to a selection of games; look out for details on this page and notices in the Prince.
