Doreen Tipton will appear of BBC Radio WM 95.6 this Saturday

Arriving at the BBC's HQ in the Mailbox in her trademark pink limo Doreen said: "Well I think now the BBC has lost Bake Off it's time now to bring Doreen in. They needed to bring in the professionals. So they contacted me and I says, 'well, yeah, you know, how much?'

"They wanted me to do the breakfast show and obviously that's completely out of the question for someone like me, in my state, so it's all pre-recorded."

Saturday's show will see Doreen do her own spoof of Downton Abbey - Doreenton Abbey - and attempt to solve viewers' problems in her 'Dear Doreen' section. She has also hinted at involving some of her celebrity contacts including Peter Andre, Ken Dodd and Eamonn Holmes.

BBC WM 95.6 Editor Sarah Harness said: “We’re over the moon that Doreen has joined us at BBC WM and we’re very much looking forward to her taking control of the airwaves. We only hope it doesn’t affect her benefits too much.”

An international internet sensation, Doreen Tipton is the creation of David Tristram and is played by actress Gill Jordan.
