Midlands clubbing guide

Hello all, it’s Friday there’s a ton of wicked music to lose yourself in this weekend, let’s get to it!

Godskitchen have got Birmingham’s 02 Institute tonight as they present The Last Dance. House, prog house, techno and trance are the sounds of the evening brought to you by headliners like Lisa Lashes (pictured) and Eddie Halliwell. Spirits are always high at Godskitchen and this is unlikely to be any different.

The Rainbow Venues are kicking off festival season with Carnival Magnifico, a collaboration with festival veterans Bestival and local favourites Seedy Sonics. There’s a whole range of sounds from across the underground spectrum, Zinc, Jaguar Skills, Mistajam, TQD, Dennis Sulta, Artwork and a whole ton more. The list is massive, do yourself a favour and get down and enjoy it.

Elsewhere, The Hare & Hounds sees Heritage hosting a man who has got almost too many accolades to count. From producing drum and bass and hardcore as Wishdokta to making 2 Step as bump and flex, Grant Nelson has been around the block a few times and certainly knows his way round a pair of turntables. He’s known as the godfather of house and garage so with that.

Saturday then, and if we pop over to Walsall there’s more garage vibes on offer at Religion where Crave presents DJ Luck and MC Neat, the duo are certified garage legends. Back in Birmingham, The Rainbow has a hefty double bill on. On one hand there’s the Summer Closing Party where Martin Buttrich and Nastia are holding down room one while local brand Re:cord has room two duties. House and techno all night long here. On the other hand there’s my pick for the weekend as drum and bass label Playaz comes into town. With jungle royalty in the form of Congo Natty, as well as Birmingham’s finest, DJ Hazard and the master craftsman Break in tow.

Elsewhere, there’s another round of Godskitchen at The Institute. That’s it for this weekend.
