One Direction surprised the people of Clevedon yesterday when they showed up to film their new music video
They filmed their first video on the sun-kissed beaches of Malibu in California.
But for their latest offering, One Direction have gone decidedly more low-key – pitching up to film in a British seaside town.
The global superstars had to resort to hot water bottles to help them keep warm while shooting the video for their latest single yesterday.
Wolverhampton’s Liam Payne was spotted with his bandmates Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles on Clevedon Pier in North Somerset.
Rumours began to circulate on social media on Sunday that the boys were in town to begin filming for their latest track, after a canteen was set up on the seafront, along with several film location trucks.
Fans had been kept in the dark about the surprise arrival, with a sign outside the pier informing the public that the landmark would be closed for two days due to a ‘special event’.
The band turned up at the pier yesterday morning in a blacked-out Bentley. The wrought iron gates at the entrance to the pier were also blacked out.
Liam, who hails from Bushbury, was spotted waving to crowds of fans who had descended on the seafront eagerly waiting for a glimpse of the band.
Meanwhile, Louis Tomlinson was trying to warm up and clutching a hot water bottle while kicking around a football when off camera.
The singer signed for Doncaster Rangers last August and made his debut in front of 4,000 fans last month.
Zayn Malik posed for photos with fans and took selfies while Harry wrapped up in a fur hat and Niall joked around with his fellow bandmates.
Crews reportedly denied they were filming a 1D video and said they were making a ‘pier of the year’ commercial.
The ‘Best Song Ever’ singers have yet to officially announce another new single.
They are set to kick off their ‘Where We Are’ stadium tour later this spring with support from McBusted.
