Healthcare staff from Birmingham Children’s Hospital will star in an upcoming primetime television series.
Inside Birmingham Children’s Hospital will offer a 10-episode insight into the workings of the establishment on Channel 4.
The series tells the stories of children, young people and their families and shows the work of the teams that care for them at the world-renowned hospital.
It will offer those watching a unique glimpse into life at the hospital, which welcomes more than 280,000 patient visits each year.
The show features more than 50 members of staff, including surgeons, nurses and doctors.
Chief executive Sarah-Jane Marsh said: “It was our absolute pleasure to welcome the film crew into our hospital to tell some of the many courageous and inspirational stories of our children, young people and families, and of course, our dedicated teams who care for them.
“It’s difficult to put your finger on exactly what it is, but there’s something very special about our hospital – it really is a magical place to be.
“No two days are ever the same, and to have the opportunity to share some of this magic with viewers across the country is a true privilege and great celebration of our families and teams.” The series broadcasts weekly from June 9 at 9pm.
David Brindley, commissioning editor for documentaries at Channel 4, said: “Inside Birmingham Children’s Hospital will be an uplifting exploration and celebration of what it means to be a parent – and a child – in Britain today.”
