Knight scooped best British TV drama writing for his work on the BBC series, which is partly filmed at the Black Country Living Museum and recently finished its third installment.

He beat off competition from the much-loved Shane Meadows and his This is England '90, along with Penny Dreadful by John Logan and Andrew Hinderaker, Murdered By My Father by Vinay Patel and Jericho by David Ramage, Steve Thompson, Chris Dunlop and Caroline Henry.

Steven Knight missed out on the award for Best British Crime Writing after he was pipped by Allan Cubitt for The Fall.
