Gallery: Celebs get physical for Sport Relief

Gary Lineker, Davina McCall and David Walliams can sleep well of an evening; after all they’re certainly no strangers to rolling up their sleeves and mucking in with the charity work.

SPORT RELIEF 2014

(BBC One, 7pm)

In fact, if it’s a dull and cloudy night outside tonight, that’s because all the stars – anyone and everyone – are turning out for a night of celebrity performances, comedy sketches and charity challenges for this year’s Sport Relief.

And Friday night telly with the feel-good factor doesn’t get much better than this.

It boasts the return of Only Fools and Horses after a 10-year absence from our screens. Del Boy (David Jason) and Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) are reuniting for a one-off sketch, but if you’re wondering where exactly the sport comes in, they are joined by a special guest star – that’s right, David Beckham is heading to Peckham.

The rest of the night’s broadcast comes live from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where Sport Relief hero John Bishop and four-time Olympic medal-winner Sebastian Coe will each captain two teams who go head-to-head in a series of challenges in the Clash of the Titans.

Clare Balding and Gabby Logan will report on all the action as the teams take on rhythmic gymnastics, track cycling, synchronised swimming and a swimming relay.

John Bishop says: “For Sport Relief 2012, I spent a week of pain cycling, rowing and running from Paris to London. To say it was tough, is a huge understatement. But now, two years on, I am back again to take on whatever challenges Sport Relief throws at me.”

Alex Jones, Davina McCall, Robbie Savage and Alan Shearer all appear in highlights of this year’s celebrity challenges, while paralympians David Clarke, Hannah Cockroft, Nathan Stephens and Martine Wright will be swapping their sports kit for sequins as they take part in a Strictly Come Dancing special.

The three-hour programme will be scattered with reminders of exactly how money raised can help to change lives both here in the UK and around the world.

Claudia Winkleman, Jack Whitehall and Fearne Cotton are also presenting. Music for the evening is provided by Little Mix, Kylie Minogue and Boyzone.
