Gallery: Gadget Show Live arrives at the NEC

Gadgets galore for as far as the eye can see. It can mean only one thing – the Gadget Show Live has arrived!

And it is every tech fan’s dream.

The doors were opening today for this year’s extravaganza at Birmingham’s NEC with thousands expected over the next few days.

The event will run until Sunday and features the latest technologies from names such as Microsoft, Sony and JVC. And alongside the stalls set up across three halls at the venue are specialised zones for children and showcasing the latest technological innovations.

There is also a zone for gamers to try out the latest consoles and games on large screens while car simulators have been set up for visitors to test out driving games.

Traders have travelled from across the country and beyond for the five-day event – which this year celebrates 10 years since The Gadget Show first aired on Channel 5.

Industry professionals got the chance to get a first glimpse of the event and browse the hottest new gadgets on the market ahead of the doors opening yesterday.

And Gadget Show presenters Jason Bradbury, Ortis Deley and Jon Bentley were also on hand to start rehearsals for the Super Theatre Show.

The show is traditionally the centrepiece of the event featuring all of the show’s presenters along with the latest technology – some of which has appeared on the TV programme.

Screens displaying scenes from the show were set up at the entrance to the Super Theatre along with specially filmed introductions by the presenters urging people to take their seats for the show. Jason, Ortis and Jon will be joined over the next few days by fellow presenter Rachel Riley, who took over from previous host Pollyanna Woodward last year.

And the trio said this year’s show would be ‘very special’ as it marked the programme’s 10th anniversary.

Shows will be held in the Super Theatre every day during the show on 11.30am and 3pm tomorrow and 11.30am, 1.30pm and 4pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
