Looking good can take time. Emily Bridgewater has some handy tips to speed up your beauty regime.
Untidy fingernails, unruly eyebrows and a bikini-line that’d put Chewbaka to shame? Yes, us too. No matter how hard we try, our beauty regime is the first thing to suffer when time is short.
Long hours at work, plus home, family and social lives to juggle, mean that valuable ‘me’ time is bottom of the priority list. However, help is at hand with a range of new express beauty sessions. Here, Native Monster trials two speedy treatments to get us back to glam in no time.
First up, a trip to Viva Urban Spa, based at Dudley’s Village Urban Resort. The tranquil spa gives clients the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of simultaneous treatments leaving you in tip-top shape in no time.
When I visited I was put in the capable hands of beautician Fabia, who took care of my full leg, underarm and bikini wax, and manicure. Expert staff can tailor your experience with choices featuring waxing, massages, facials and fake tans during 15, 20, 40, 55 or 85-minute slots.
And while my session was quick, I didn’t feel rushed or any less than totally pampered: in just over an hour, I was back in the relaxation area waiting for my freshly-painted nails to dry and enjoying a complimentary Starbucks coffee.
If you’re lucky enough to have a bit more time, the spa boasts a decent-sized pool, a fully-equipped gym and back-to-back fitness classes. With prices from £40 for a facial and manicure, I’ll definitely be back.
Next it was on to Selfridges’ new Beauty Workshop, the perfect solution for time-savvy shoppers.
The third-floor zone, within the store’s recently revamped Beauty Hall, is the ideal spot for a speedy blow-dry, eyebrow and eyelash treatment, or manicure.
I began my session at the nail bar of HC LuxSpa, where my technician gave me an immaculate Red Carpet gel manicure in record time. What’s more is that the polish dries quickly under a UV lamp for high-shine in no time and long-lasting wear: two weeks later and they still look fabulous – what more could a busy girl want?
It was then on to Katie at Umberto Giannini who washed and blow-dried my hair, turning it from frazzled straw to glistening mane.
While I stuck to my usual ‘do’ the staff can create a range of styles to suit your occasion: it’d be the ideal place to visit before a wedding or night out.
Afterwards my bonce felt silky and smelt amazing, and it was all done within about 20 minutes just leaving time for a quick stop at Blink brow bar for threading and tinting. The discreet salon also offers a range of alluring fake lashes for long-lasting wear.
Selfridges offers a range of packages for customers wishing to experience the Beauty Workshop, with a quick fix blow-dry, express manicure and mini-makeover priced £35.
The experience was a delight from start to finish and I stepped out of the store a new woman.
With speedy beauty services like these, there’s absolutely no excuse not to find a little ‘me’ time.
