Life is sweet in West Bromwich as a Little Dessert Shop has opened its latest branch in the town – creating 70 jobs.
The new shop sits in the Farley Centre, High Street, in the former Pizza Hut building that has sat empty for more than three years.
The outlet is the company’s third in the Black Country, following on from the success of others in Wolverhampton and Wednesfield.
The business offers a range of desserts including ice-cream and cakes, as well as offering a takeaway service.
Many of the staff who have been taken on were long-term unemployed.
Manager Roman Aslamzada said: “The West Bromwich public have been warm to us so far and we hope to be successful.”
When the team opened the Little Dessert Shop Express in Wednesfield, we spoke to the manager:
The Little Dessert shop is also hoped to revive The Farley Centre area which at present only offers homeware retailer B&M, with the former post office and Morrisons buildings laying empty.
The 70 new jobs are full and part-time positions, including a wide range of dessert specialists from burrito artists, kitchen baristas and waitresses.

It even scooped a national award for Dessert Outlet of the Year in 2015 and an Express & Star Business Award back in May this year.
Area manager Dane Bartholomew said the idea for The Little Dessert Shop came about after visiting similar outlets in Europe and America. He said: “I think we have brought something different to the city. It’s very creative, and after all, everyone enjoys a sweet treat.”
