The launch of this year’s panto at Oakengates Theatre @The Place was held in an Aladdin’s Shropshire-based cave, where the cast were promoting the traditional slap-stick comedy show.
The stage stars were found in the hills at The Follies, Hawkstone Park near Wem.
The family fun show promises a magical ride of mystery, romance and dazzling adventure mixed together with songs and jokes.
Running from December 12 to January 5, Asa Elliott, from ITV’s Benidorm, will star as Aladdin and will be joined by the Genie of the Lamp, Wishee Washee, Emperor Chop Suey, Widow Twankey, Abanazar and his true love, Princess Jasmine, played by Jade Chaston, from Brighton.
She said: “It’s my first professional panto, and I’m delighted to be involved in the show and peforming in Telford.”
Director Ian Billings, who has directed the pantomime in Telford for the last six years, said: “We are on a roll with wonderful pantos and performances.
“We are very lucky to have a fantastic cast. This show will be a thrilling one.
“Jump on the magic carpet and come along for the ride.
“We can’t wait to perform again in Telford.
“Each year the audiences grow and are fantastic.”
Ali Cook, marketing manager for the pantomime, said: “We will be bringing the magic to Oakengates and it will be a first class flight to pantoland.
“The caves at Hawkstone Park are a perfect setting to promote the show.
“It will be a laugh-out-loud show, with a stunning fairytale set and costume.”
