They Want To Make Magic – and a cast crammed with acting talent from around the West Midlands is bringing Fame back to the Grand Theatre stage.

The production, the stage adaption of the 1980 musical film, is set at the New York school for performing arts, and follows four students from initial auditions to graduation. 

The show runs until Saturday at the Grand, Wolverhampton, and sees Luke Bennett, of Merry Hill, playing Nick Piazza, Jess Olford of Penn as Serena, Compton’s Liam Sargeant as Joe ‘Jose’ Vegas, Tyrone Jackson played by Jason Guest, from Willenhall. and Georgia Hudson, of Wombourne, as Carmen.

The performance is the 61st for the amateur dramatic society – Wolverhampton Musical Comedy Company, otherwise known as MUSCOM, founded in 1938. Laura Canadine, who plays Mabel Washington, said: “It’s fabulous to be back on home ground, performing on the Grand Theatre stage.”

Performances start at 7.30pm or 2.30pm today and Saturday.
