Comedy stars Steve Punt and Norman Pace will join The Voice competitor Liam Tamne in a new production of The Rocky Horror show at Birmingham’s New Alexandra Theatre.
The world’s favourite rock ‘n’ roll musical is back by popular demand to thrill fans with frothy fun and naughty nights. Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show has been on the road for more than 40 years and remains a non-stop party.
It will feature at the theatre from Monday until October 15.
Tamne has been having a ball since taking the role of Rocky Horror’s Sweetest Transvestite.
He said: “It’s such an iconic piece of film, isn’t it? For me, being a part of something like this, it is a real privilege and honour. It’s 42 years its been going. I had an interview before and I was explaining to them that never in my career would I have put myself playing this role.
“So it is a real honour and it is a real challenge but it’s exciting and a joy to do something like this. I love it and I love the company. We’re such a small cast and I think that really helps with the company morale and keeping it going, the excitement and going to different venues.”
The show features famous musical classics including Science Fiction/Double Feature, Sweet Transvestite, Dammit Janet and of course, the classic floor filler The Time Warp. Venue spokeswoman Fiona McCartney said: “This is the boldest bashest of them all, so sharpen those stilettos and get ready for the biggest bash in town. Be warned, this show has rude parts.”
