The space-age eleMMent Palazzo is the world’s most expensive motorhome at £2m

A cocktail bar, three huge flat-screen TVs, a rainfall shower and a fireplace – it has to be the world’s most expensive motorhome.

Not surprisingly it’s gone on sale in Dubai – covered in gold – at £2 million. It’s the ‘camper van’ that really does put the glamour into camping.

Quite simply it’s a palace on wheels – it’s so blinged up it could be Justin Bieber’s next set of wheels. The teenage sensation is one of many celebrities and rock stars who have gone on the record as suffering aviophobia, the fear of flying.

But Marchi Mobile might have a solution for that in the form of the £2m eleMMent, a vehicle that could be best described as a private jet on wheels.

The ground-bound Gulfstream rival makes even your top-of-the-range rock star’s traditional tour bus look rather second-rate, with an interior described by Marchi as ‘just as extravagant as its owner’.

The space-age van comes complete with a colossal master bedroom, three 40in TVs, on-board bar, fireplace and even its own rooftop terrace. There’s even 50 square metres of entertaining room with a fog machine, ice maker and multimedia set-up.

But the most impressive piece of luxury is the Sky Lounge – at the press of a button the 40ft home transforms into a personal retreat with pop-up cocktail bar, underfloor heating and extravagant marble lighting.

Put simply, this vehicle has absolutely nothing in common with the vans that trundle along the motorways towards the coast throughout the summer months – except that they’re both on wheels. This particular 40ft vehicle comes in stunning gold and is also available in white. It has controllable lighting effects that allow owners to highlight the van’s unique external style.

Proud owners can make the most of ‘remote video access that allows you to show your friends the exterior and interior’, while paranoid prima donnas who want to stay away from the public spotlight can use live video surveillance to make sure no-one has tampered with the vehicle.

The eleMMent is powered by a 380kW diesel engine linked to twin sport exhausts that vent through a sports car-style diffuser.

But that means that fuel consumption is a rather miserly 13mpg, although that probably won’t bother you too much if you can afford the asking price in the first place.

Nor will the fact that it only sleeps four – you might have thought you’d be able to get a few more of your friends onboard at those sorts of prices. Not surprisingly, the vehicle is a hit among oil-rich Arab Sheikhs, presumably tempted by the fact the state-of-the-art homes even wash themselves after a day’s driving through the desert.

A spokesman for Marchi Mobile said: “People never fail to notice innovation, but rarely does the excitement for it last.

“That is how it began for us. But now –after many years of development – we sparked a fire in luxury mobility. Our goal has not only been to introduce a new line of luxury vehicles but usher in a new era.

“This is done by a perfect masterpiece that sets itself apart at first sight.”

The private jet on wheels is designed to cater for businessmen on the road, wealthy families on their travels or global superstars. Despite living space banishing stereotypical pokey caravans, the cost per sq ft comes at a pocket-busting premium – costing double the equivalent amount of some of London’s finest homes.
