Our guide to Telford

Telford's Southwater development

Cultural Attractions:

‘Galleries Alive’ is a recently opened gallery in the town centre which holds new and exciting art pieces in order for people to have the chance to display their work to others. If you’d like to take a look at some interesting and new art pieces, then this is the place for you!

Perfect for the little ones:

Keeping the children busy can be a hard task, but there’s plenty to entertain them in Telford...

Telford Town Park is home to a large adventure park, beautiful scenery and a wide range of facilities to provide hours of fun. For the kids there are large slides, a spider web climbing frame, a toddlers play area and a huge games arena. However, if you’re after a quiet escape, the town park boasts wide rural landscapes – ideal for long walks or just a breath of fresh air. The park has many striking walkways accessible all over the park with scenic gardens that contain fountains and a wonderful collection of plants and flowers.

Near the Town Park is the children’s fairy tale themed park Wonderland where there are small rides, visits to the characters' houses and an adventure maze. This is a popular attraction with children, especially over the Christmas period when there are chances to meet Santa in a cosy log cabin in the park.

Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom is currently the only zoo in Shropshire and it was redesigned in 2013 to make it even more fun for a family day out. The farm is home to many small pet animals whilst also housing some larger, more exotic animals. Visitors can meet the small animals, bottle feed the deer, feed the lamb and goat kids and enjoy pony rides.

Southwater development:

The Southwater development is set to become one of the best places for social, business and family entertainment in and around Telford. The development, situated on the back of the town centre, will boast masses of new restaurants including Nandos, Bella Italia, Zizzi’s, Mimosa’s, Pizza Express and a Wagamama. It will also house the new Cineworld/IMAX cinema complex.

Top Attractions:

Shop 'til you drop at Telford Shopping Centre with its great range of high street stores, including Debenhams, Marks and Spencer, House of Fraser and BHS. What’s more, the centre is filled with cafes and restaurants if you need a quick break from all that shopping!

For sporty visitors, Telford has its own ice rink and bowling alleys.

Located on the outskirts of Madeley, the Telford Snowboard and Ski Centre is an ideal place to improve any snow sport skills or to learn something new. Try your hand at skiing, snowboarding, snowblading, inflatable pool sessions and ice skating.

Our favourites:

Lovely Lunch: The Aroma Cafe Bar situated inside Telford Shopping Centre is the perfect place for a quick snack or a long lunch. It caters for a bunch of food types, including gluten-free meals. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly – definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful Walk: Telford has many surrounding areas which include plenty of countryside walks. However, a beautiful breath of fresh air can be gained by walking around the Wrekin. It can be quite a challenge as there are some steep parts, but it is mostly a nice uphill walk with a cracking view at the summit.
