He readily admits he’s not the sharpest tool in the box – but that didn’t stop more than 500 fans turning out to meet reality TV star Joey Essex.
The 24-year-old brought a touch of Essex to the Black Country for a book signing at Waterstones in Merry Hill.
He posed for selfies with devoted fans who queued for almost five hours to meet the TOWIE star at the Brierley Hill centre – although many were disappointed when he left less than two hours after arriving.
The fans queued from as early as 7am on Friday to meet Joey and get copies of his latest book – The Book of You (and Me) – signed.
Joey, who has his own series Educating Joey Essex, which sees the reality star travelling the world in a bid to fill some of the gaps in his knowledge, waved to crowd before taking selfies and signing copies with fans.
Joey superfans Shanna Martin, aged 16 and Demi Price, 16, from Droitwich had been queuing since 8am. Shanna said: “I am such a massive fan of Joey and I cannot believe I got the chance to meet him.
“I ran straight up to him and said ‘what are you saying?’ and he said it straight back to me. He was a really down to earth guy and I cannot wait to read the book.”

The book, which is Joey’s second after his biography ‘Being Reem’ includes doodle pages allowing his readers to create their own story with him.
Joey managed to make it halfway through the queue before he had to leave.
Alex Mason, from Waterstones, said: “Joey was here until just after 1pm but had to end the signing to attend other signings and a television appearance.”
