Speccy, the spectacled owl

Speccy, the spectacled owl, is on show at the animal experience event at the attraction near Telford. As a youngster he made cameo appearances on set at Hogwarts and he has been turning heads at the animal kingdom for seven years.

Delighted guests Lacie, pictured, and Skye Owen were among those who booked places in advance for a chance to meet him and other exhibits, plus chat to their handlers at the centre, in Preston on the Weald Moors.

Miss Owen, 28, an estate agent, of Banfield Road, Darlaston, said: “We booked to meet the animals because we know a lot of people who have been to the animal experience events at Hoo Farm before.

“My sister Skye is going away to university and we are trying to spend as much time together before she leaves.

“We had a fantastic time. It was an incredible experience. My favourites was the owl and the snakes. Meeting them really made my day.

“The staff were amazing. They told us about the animals and the work that they do and we were made to feel very welcome by everyone. It’s was definitely worth the visit.”

Will Dorrell, of Hoo Farm, said: “Speccy is very popular with our visitors. He had a small part in the Harry Potter films before he came to us. We got him from a private collection.”
