British astronaut Tim Peake will be given free access to Alton Towers for the rest of his life when he returns from space.
The astronaut and his family will be welcomed to the Staffordshire theme park and its new virtual reality space-themed attraction, Galactica, which opened in March.
It’s just one of the perks he will receive on his return from the International Space Station, where he has been for more than six months.
Major Peake will also be given a personalised virtual reality headset on June 18 – the day he is set to leave space.
The headset will let him virtually travel back to space if he ever missed it. Last week, the astronaut revealed a craving for pizza, prompting takeaway firm Papa John’s to pledge to deliver pizza to Tim when he lands.
Alton Towers unveiled plans to build a wooden rollercoaster last week, replacing the log flume and The Mexican Cantina.
The ride is being referred to as Secret Weapon 8 at the moment.
Major Peak is due home by the end of the month and has been taking part in live chats with schools during his time on the International Space Station.
